snazzy moves no more

Was just reading some articles posted by Edie when I came across this

She talks about how to be the best follower in salsa.

After reading it, I realized that I am NOT a good follower. I'm sorry dear...if i stress you out when we dance. I also apologise to all to whom i have ever exhibited impatience and annoyance when moves are not executed on beat or if the lead is confusing.

You know, it's SO frustrating (mainly because it is PAINFUL) to be stepped on, pushed, pulled, grabbed, tossed, twisted, turned, thrown and hit all the time. It's interesting howEdie likens salsa to a contact sport. I cannot agree more.
Hit rate: 5 per dance.

Interestingly, I think i was a better follower when I first started out...when I had no clue about how to listen to the beat, when i didn't know any snazzy moves, when i thought double and triple turns were the impossible and had no idea what i was supposed to do with my hands. All I could do was to follow the guy since i knew next to nothing. Every guy i danced with was good.

Sometimes, I think being able to hear the beat and tell time is a bane rather than a boon. It really sucks when u know the guy is off beat, on the wrong foot and is definitely going to make you turn off beat so you will lose your balance.

It really, really sucks.
It sucks because I want to flow with the music, to groove to the beat but am forced to do otherwise.

If I didn’t obey and succumb to his every lead, I found he would label me as "difficult to dance with". If I back-led, it never worked out. When I just "gave up", and let him lead me, things always worked out for the better. -Edie the Salsa Freak

I don't want to be labelled as difficult to dance with. I don't want to be left in a corner. I am not going to be snobby. I guess I just have to go along with the flow and GIVE UP.

So yea, officially now...I'm giving up.

Come and ask me to dance already.
I want to be told that I follow, I mean, dance well again.
