hello.

i watched the local movie "15" by royston tan last night. Mm..i would say it was pretty good, though as the review fr the straits times say, the 2nd half was a little draggy..but overall, for a local production, its not bad..

Spoiler alert! STOP Reading HERE if u plan to watch it!

I felt that the portrayal of the mindsets of the bengs was startling accurate..though the movie merely skims the surface and not all bengs are so despondant. But then again, art film usually don't care if u get it or not, only that it has been made. The audience jus has to learn how to consume such a film on its own and the director/producer jus makes the film.

Anyhow, the part where (cant really rememer their names) the ang mo pai kids started a fight with the bengs was rather weird. I mean, yes...the movie managed to show a different (and in my opinion, accurate) perspective of the english speaking crowd (jus sometimes really just think too high and mighty of themselves), i just don't think such stuff really happens in real life. Im not saying that the ang mo pai and the bengs don't clash, they most probarly do..but what i think is that the english speaking crowd is rather unlikely to pick an ACTUAL fight with the street kids. It jus goes against common sense. In my humble opinion, i think the ang mo pai is more likely to jus slinker away and bitch (like mad!!) about how uncouth and hooligan-like the bengs are.

On the other hand, the times may have changed...i have no idea how is the situation like now and how secondary students think...what i have is merely my own experiences which have yellowed with time...

You know, the part where the the leader of the ang mo pai gang was caught and beaten up real bad, i felt a certain relishment...i really felt it served him right..and its interesting how the concept of loyalty came up..like how all the other english speaking kids jus ran away and left their buddy in the lurch..i really dunno how true a reflection is this since i never really belonged to an ang mo pai anyway...but to me, it seems like a good representation of public sentiment that the educated are often more concerned about saving their own skins than those of their friends...

Or, it could be argued that because these kids are more educated, they realise that 'there's no such thing as eternal friends or foes' - an underlying concept throughout 15.

Mm...enough of my blah blahs, basically i really enjoyed the movie..It was realistic enough and really captured the essence..though i feel that it could have been better if the issues were explored more in depth.

Yet, the point of the movie is not to explain the actions or the life of the street kids to the masses, especially not the higher class, but rather to point out how misunderstood and how they too are humans....just like us.

hi people,

i was reading the newspaper today and came across this article written by this male journalist grousing about the fact that sex never comes free. He wrote a full half-page! He was saying that everyone pays for sex, one way or the other..in cash or in kind..

As i was read it, i kept resisting the urge to hit my forehead in exasperation. How duh can that guy get? Its like he never ever heard of the phrase " there's no such thing as a free lunch". Why, seriously..nothing in this world is free. In fact, i even doubt love is free. You see, i read this other article once ( though now i cant remember where i read it) that parents do not naturally need to love their children.

Why do i doubt love is free? Well, if ur nasty enough to a person for a long enough time, he'll / she'll stop loving u. Of course, nobody would stupid enough to try..but this jus proves the point that that someone expects something (mainly u reciprocating his/her love and so be nice an lovey dovey) in return for giving their heart to u...

Since when can anyone really love someone who hated them to the core? Xie Shaoguang in Holland V excluded. In fact, i think people are more tied down by this psychological trap called cognitive dissonance than anything else. I really do.

Just my bo liao thoughts acting up again..see ya!

I'm glad to announce that my friendster friend list is getting longer...albeit really slowly. Well, at least its a start..

I feel so uptight right now. I am actually starting to hate school becuz its really giving me lotsa stress..hope i dun flunk any module this sem..else im reali dead..cant bear the thought of having to catch up for another 2 sems...sigh...

Caught the movie 'rundown' on sat...Mmm..it wasn't as bad as the critics said it was...though The Rock still acts like The Rock...'cept he's real kind hearted and not into guns because "bad things happen" when he uses guns.

In my opinion, its an okay show..nothing heavy..worth the money to see the hilarious facial expressions of The Rock and the irritating whines of his side-kick (dunno what the hell's his name).

Mmm......basically nothing much to blog about...im starting to worry that i am becoming boring. Why, i feel boring. Sigh. Really, all work and no play makes Audrey a dull girl. I'm so out of ideas i think im getting repetitive here.

helo..

sorry i haven't come by for a while..just that i have so much work to do!! Argh...you won't believe it (becuz neither can i), but i think i am turning into a homebody. Yes, a homebody. That's someone who stays home all the time. Damn it.

And now, my printer just died. *sigh*. Great.

Oh, are you guys on friendster? its like everybody is on friendster now...i was a little skeptical at first...but now..i think it's pretty cool...though im a little embarassed at the low number of friends i've got. Ah well...what to do? So....you know what to do...after you finish reading this, go add me. Haha...

Tomorrow, two of my friends are getting married. Its really exciting. These two have been dating for like 9 years! Amazing! Haha..they like started since they were 18. They are also each others' first love. So sweet ya? So like the movies...Seriously wonder how they do it. According to the girl, she never looked for a boyfriend, she looked for a husband. All i can say is, she's got goooooood foresight. Haha..

ok, gotta get up at the crack of dawn tomo to make it for my dumb confusing computing class..so take care and cya!

p/s: cyber storm, at least give a hint (make it a big one pls) even if u dun wan to identify urself...

Anyway..waiting for my fren to send me the outline for my project..got about an hour to kill..so decided to come here and write some bo liao stuff..as usual..

Guess wat? I was attacked by TWO viruses yesterday...some welch.exe thingy and the new version of the bloody blaster worm...which exploits the RPC vulnerability in the PC or something. A double whammy man! I spent like the entire evening and morning trying to clean up my com..and now..after that initial scare..( i was afraid that my mp3s and homework would get wiped out), i've set up my microsoft updates (security patches and all) on automatic and set up firewalls. Trying to renew my antivirus...but there's some annoying problem..cant seem to register for it properly. Aw shucks!

Anyway..u guys should really go download the damn patches regularly man..i know lah..im kinda slow..everyone kena the worm and its like 'passe' then i get it..but oh well....

Ok..that's about it..too stressed to type anymore..think ill go stare at the tube for a while. See ya!

hi everyone!

went to see my dentist again yesterday to get my cavity filled. Boy, was it painful or what?! Cant imagine how am i going to be able to tahan having my wisdom teeth pulled out at the end of the year...my legs turn to jelly as soon as i think about it. Owww.....

Anyway, i stayed home all day today trying to finish up my many many projects..but no such luck..i only managed to do about 70% of my macromedia project..too my scripting..cant quite get the hang of it..kept wondering all day if my computer was gonna hang on me because i took so long to figure out how to make a single script work...*sigh* Anyway...

Tried to do my cybercrime project too..but got stuck at the child porn part...too much stats..too confusing...so tiring to read about someones' rendevous ( in case u don't know by now [shame on u!!!], it's pronounced as 'run-day-voo')...

My japanese studies project has to wait till tomo when i can collate my research results with my classmate...shitty job..and also need to prepare for presentation next week..

My employee management paper is still waiting for me to start on it..i've done my interview, got my research material..but cant quite bear to start on my paper...So tedious!!!

And finally, i still have one more (*sigh*) sociology paper due in a few weeks...not to mention my exams are also round the corner...

Okaaay...sounds bad ya? I almost wish i were a guy so i would be doin some brainless ns exercise instead of fretting about deadlines and grades and all the yucky icky stuff thats making me break out...(i said break out, NOT break up).

Oh, if any of u ppl out there know how to do Lingo scripting for macromedia director..could u pls drop me a line or something? I'll take u out for coffee...lunch...whatever....ya? :)

hie..

Watched 28 Days Later today..All i can say is..it's not worth $8.50. Shan't spoil it for u by telling you what's the plot..but its got a kind of 'art film' feel to it..if not for anything else, it really does very well disturbing you. I personally found its exploration of the human psyche particularly disturbing. Ah well..it's just my opinion..but if ur looking for something light..something that u'll walk away feeling good..this is NOT the show for you. Go for it if u're in an 'arty farty' mood and cant be bother to pick up the Wuthering Heights and if Tolkein's Lord of the Rings movies are too complex for you...Won't say more now..might just spoil the entire experience for u...

hi people,

Im in such a good mood today! Must be because i finally finished and handed up my soci paper!

Just in case u guys don't know, starhub is giving away FREE sms!! FINALLY!! My patience has been rewarded! ahahaha!! Now..i got free incoming calls ALL DAY and free SMS!!! Yay!!!!!
So...the war between Singtel, Starhub and M1 is highly beneficial afterall!

I havent been working for so looong...im like running low on the dough..i hate that..Was supposed to work at HMV next weekend..but got too many projects and papers to handup the following week so...*sigh*.

Guess what?! This police inspector guy ( actually i think his rank is higher..senior something something but i cant remember what is it) who deals with computer crime came to my Cybercrime class today and told us more about the Computer Misuse Act in S'pore and the "war stories" against cyber criminals.

I discovered a few shocking facts:
1) There are ONLY a total of 29 staff working under the specific computer division. ( i cant help but feel they are understaffed)

2) If the police suspect (i repeat, merely suspect) that you are breaching the law by committing some computer crime, they can arrest you without a warrant!!!! That's frightening! (actually i found that out long ago during class, but decided to tell you guys anyway cuz i think its interesting)

3) Finally, i realized that i could have SUED and WON my case against one of my ex boyfriends for unauthorized access to my email and for impersonating me!! Wow! And the guy thought he was so above the law..turns out it was my ignorance that was blinding me. Ah well...

So...pretty cool huh? I think the policemen have it goooood in S'pore. (what say you, juan? heh!) They got plenty of leeway to do what they want...not as troublesome as the US...

Anyway, gtg now...got a computing test on sat to study for. Ciao!
