damnit

Guess what?

It's coming to 9.30pm and I'm still fucking in the office.
On a Friday night, no less.

This is wrong..

Shit.

p/s: I STILL HATE THINSOFT. Very much.

Friday blues

This is crazy.
This is not how a Friday is supposed to work.

Damnit.

I HATE Thinsoft!

There. I've come right out and said. In fact, i'll say it again...

I HATE HATE HATE Thinsoft!!!!!!

Ah, much better.

Okay, now that I have let it out...and i need to destress by digressing from work and talking about my dinner with Justin at Uberburger yesterday.

The famed Uberburger was a disappointment.
And no, i didn't try the notoriously expensive 101 Burger. No way I'm paying a 100 bucks just for bread and meat. 100 bucks can buy me a one way ticket to Thailand, so there's no chance i'll spend that kind of $$$ on food.

BTW, the menu is ridiculously hard to read. We both got quite tired trying to figure out each entry... there are no pictures! WTH right? A menu with no pictures??!!! Ridiculous.

I pay $$$ and am supposed to second-guess how my food looks like?! Nonsense!

Anyhow, I ordered item 01 on the menu, which was something of a piece of steak with tomatoes, onions and sauce sandwiched between 2 really thick slices of bread. Haha...my burger was done "medium rare" okay!

And because the entire thing (yes, i consider it a "thing" rather than a burger) was so huge...my jaws (and believe i speak for Justin as well) got quite tired with all the chewing. I've never felt more like a cow in my life. Mooooo!

To give the devil its due, the food wasn't so bad..Just rather tiring to eat.

BUT the atmosphere (which i believe was paid for by way of the price of the burgers) was really less than desirable. It actually felt a little stuffy..and the servers were talking really quite loudly among themselves and across the restaurant. Sigh.

BTW, 90% of the servers were Malay. Interesting, isn't it? And I didn't even see the word "Halal" anywhere on the premises...Or maybe i was just being blind, as usual.

Anyway, the number of Malay servers at Uberburger has led me to conclude that Uberburger is really just a jacked-up version of the humble Ramlee.

Chey!

p/s: Thanks for the dinner, Justin. :)

B2

This "annoucement" may come abit late..but we (mich, dawn and yours truly) have graduated from B2!

Here are our B2 graduation photos!

Our instructors are different this time round...It's the girl in the black top (Samantha) and the guy right next to her (Boon).

Don't know why, but personally, i felt that the B2 class wasn't as fun as B1...Perhaps it was because i have invariably picked up a number of moves..

Hmm..

EOD

Just back from Union...and instead of zonking out as per the usual SOP, i had to go send my EOD.
Er, in case u are wondering, EOD stands for End of Day (report).

Yes, I have to account to my boss for what I do for the entire day, every work day.
Which sucks, because I am always forgetting to do my EOD and as a result, have to do it at home and send it out.

And no, I cannot not send it because I have to "send this report by the END OF THE DAY or NEXT DAY 0915hrs latest. Failure will result in a formal warning or penalty".

See? No excuses for me.

And honestly, I'd rather sleep late than wake up early...because im the kind who needs to be kicked out of bed every morning.

Damnit!

Why can't someone just invent some anti-sleep pill man!

Why, why, why!!!!!!!!

sentosa

Decided to go support Boon who was taking part in a salsa competition at palawan beach on Sunday.

And because zz was such a loyal dog (i was sick earlier in the day and had to puke into the toilet bowl. Zsazsa was pawing the door and yelping frantically outside the loo in worry.), i decided that i would not stinge on the cab fare and brave the taxi uncle and bring her along.

The whole trip was quite eventful...and extremely hilarious to say the least.

It began with me trying to stuff her into my bag under my block so that the taxi uncle would think that zz was this small harmless little dog and let me get on his cab..But i forgot zz grows exponentially and can no longer fit into my bag.

So i had to abandon the idea and content myself with letting her wait beside me by the road.

Luckily, a taxi came and we managed to get on...no questions asked. Wow.

Anyway, upon reaching Habourfront (and parting with like S$19!!! *heart pain*) and meeting Mich & Nigel, we had to shelve our plans to hitching a cab into the island. We decided to take the bus instead.

For the unintiated, dogs are only allowed into Sentosa if they are:

1. in a car*
2. walk across the bridge

*A bus is not considered a car.

Fortunately, Nigel was gg to book in that night and so was carrying this really gigantic sling bag. It was this huge bag that into which we promptly and rather unceremoniously dumped zz into.

She wasn't happy at all.
She was really quite annoyed because the bag had to be zipped up (cuz she kept trying to escape), And as you can imagine, it was quite stuffy and hot inside the bag. The shot was taken after she finally managed to burst free..

Yes, Zsa zsa has learnt how to open a zipped bag from the inside:

Step 1: Struggle like crazy and then suddenly stop as if u have fainted
Step 2:
Find a small hole/opening at the zip and breathe frantically from it...as if u can't get any air on the inside.
Step 3: Make ur owner worry and thus open the zip a little to check on you.
Step 4: Seize the chance and stick your snout through the little gap and out into the open, all the while, skirming vigourously.
Step 5: Break free by wiggling violently and give the pathetic "i-am-so-sick-of-living-in-a-bag" face.

Anyhow, upon reaching sentosa...she had a field day running on the sand..and getting to know other dogs.

Zsa zsa was asked also asked if she'd like to salsa by the principle instructor at Attitude studio, Gupson. Hahaha...it was quite funny because she was looking so intently at the people dancing...as if she wanted to join in as well.

No silly, of course she declined the dance. She ran back and hid behind my legs, that coward.

All in all, it was a pretty good day.

Would i do it again?

Yes, absolutely.
Except I'd definitely drive myself there the next time round.

Paulaners

Hey there...

Covered alot of ground over the last weekend. So, instead of bombarding you with a super long post, i shall break it up into 3...for your viewing pleasure *wink*

Okay, here goes the update on my life...

On Friday, after work, we headed down to Paulaner's for a well deserved drink...and also to watch the Spain vs Dunnowho match. Dunno-who because i am only interested in Spain for the cute guys. Hahaha...c'mon lah, give me some credit can? At least i'm honest...I watch Spain for the men. But unfortunately, they didn't show the Spain match that night...So we amused ourselves by taking photos and talking rubbish.

Anyway, back to what I was saying...

To my delight, I found out that you can preorder drinks at Happy Hour prices and get the staff to serve the drinks later! Cool! So pls hor, next time you people reach Paulaner's early, pls pls pls order my beer for me first, yes?

Me, happily slugging beer. I had 2 0.5Ls... :)

Twain and his mug. Light beer is soooo boring can?? Hehe.

Twain and Kris...obviously very happy with their beer. Those alcoholic designers!

Twain, me & Kristen.

Mark & Twain.
I'm very impressed by Mark. He guzzled 2 liters of beer and only went to pee once.

Wow.

Where did all that liquid go???

And if Paulaner's vs Brewerkz, who wins? I say Brewerkz!

big and fat

Went to Irene's 21st birthday on Sat...Wow. First ever chalet I went to that didn't have free flow alcohol...not that it's a bad thing (actually, it was good cuz i was driving that night and i would have gone crazy just sitting there looking at everyone else drink)...just that it's a first for me. First time nobody did anything crazy...or did something stupid.

Hm..Actually, all in all, it was quite pleasant to eat food in peace without having to scream at anyone for being an ass.

Anyway, here's a picture of Zz and me at the BBQ...and gosh...she is humoungous, isn't she! I wonder if she is starting to get a little to big...Or is "little" a gross understatement??? I think i have a super fast growing dog!

Haha..she polished off 2 chicken wings and half a sausage at the party so i guess it'd little wonder that she's this size.

I like zz fat...more huggable. Plus, it makes her easier to catch when she tries to run away from me. Hah!

Just check out her greedy face as she stands up on her hind legs to beg for food.

Aww...

brewerkz

On Tues, we had our monthly* company dinner...this time our dear Maraget managed to cajole our boss bring us to Brewerkz.

Anyway, here's what i had to eat...Fish and chips in Brewerkz beer batter! Quite yummy..but so oily! I ate 1 piece of the fish and swapped the rest for Kristen's seafood spagetti..Smart hor? Heehee.

H

Here are the ladies I work with...Yea, a miserable 5 ladies in the whole company only.

Me and Kris - Fellow pom lover, girl who usually shares the shit at work with me and who tried to delete this photo in my hp cuz she said my face was too small! WTH and here I am, thinking that she looks like Jolin Tsai.

Priscilla and Me - Skinny person with a bottomless pit. I suspect she can demolish the entire pantry single-handedly if she wants to, and not put on any weight.

Irene and Me - Guo Meimei lookalike and the youngest person in our company...generation gap?? Oh, we were celebrating her 21st birthday too. 21st?!! Wah lao...i thought the only other people who i would have to celebrate their 21st birthdays were my brothers (and even then, they'd probably just hang with their friends. I digress.)

Margaret and Me - My favourite admin girl...hahah..because of her, we all have a well stocked pantry..good dinners...nice stationary...plenty of claims. Oh and she's a fellow dog lover too.

Okay..this post will get really long (and boring) if i added in all the pics...so if you are interested in looking at the other people in my company, click here.

* The bill came up to a whopping S$600+ for a company of 12. Hahaha..We ordered like there was no tomorrow...and took to the beer like fish to water (or am i only speaking for myself?). That said, I love Brewerkz beer!

the Jackie Antiseptic

Because Mark did not quite live up to the "Office Maid" namesake, we all had to clean our keyboards, tables and whatnot first thing this morning. (Damn.)

Upon stepping into the office, I was promptly handed a towel soaked with Dettol by Margaret, and was instructed to "clean [my] table hor!".

Okay, so i promptly deposited by bag and proceeded to wipe my table, my keyboard, my phone, my mouse, and even my chair armrests.

Then I noticed the Jackie Antiseptic spray.

Now, the Jackie Antiseptic spray is very cool and I am very impressed by it.

Don't be deceived by the way it looks...like some hair spray product, it's really very potent.

It is a "Tuberculocidal-Staphylocidal Batericidal Fungicidal-Pseudomonicidal" spray that

"Disinfects influenza Z2/Hong Kong virus on Inanimate Environmental Surfaces".

Wah! Scary can?
Hahaha....

My whole office smells like a hospital now...and all the soap available has the words "anti-bacterial" or "antiseptic" on it.

I think even the air purifier thingy has some cleaning liquid in it to help reduce germs!

Oh man...

thank you

I have been thinking...and have a million dollar question.

Why do people get together?

I mean, apart from the obvious i-like-you-and-wan-to-hold-your-hand-forever shit, but i am sure sometimes, before we actually meet that said person, we are already wishing that we are in love.

That being the case, if we are already wishing that we are in love, would we just devote our attentions to the next available person who is in interested in you?

That's happened to me a couple of times...and well, while the relationships weren't bad...they'd just tend to fizzle out in the end. Which is a bloody waste of time, if you ask me.

Sometimes people get together for company, sometimes they mistake activity partners for lovers, sometimes a hottie for a soul mate (read: lust/shag mate), sometimes a smart friend for an intellectual soulmate. Sometimes, just for fun and sometimes out of boredom.

Falling in love for the wrong reasons is so banal.
Or, should i say, falling in like?

So, maybe, at the end of the day, we (okay, maybe it just me) should all just engage in outrageous flirting..and take no action. Because it'd be for all the wrong reasons anyway.

Anyway, i've decided, I'm not going to fall in this trap again. No, not me..not again ( i hope).

So, to all my friends out there, thank you for being there when i need you.

brown hair

Hai..

Was stuck in the hair salon for like 3hrs today...i dyed my hair brown! Woohoo.
My curls look so much better now...and not to mention, i don't feel like an auntie anymore either. hehe...

Anyway, being stuck for 3hrs in a salon is no joke. And to kill time, i leafed through countless magazines.

And guess what was the conclusion at the end??
I need to get a nose job. I need a sharper nose. I need surgery.

*sigh*

Oh...and i finally saw someone in RL who looks like kuchiki byakuya...though the person i know needs to lose like, what, 10kg first.

Haha.

Amazing. A kuchiki byakuya lookalike.
Hmm...even right down to the aloof/arrogant attitude.

** you might want to take the lookalike part with a pinch of salt. I thought zz looked like a character from Over the Hedge previously too. So...hahahaa.

a day at home

Okay..since the likelihood of the whole company being quarantined again is rather small...I will post updates of stuff that happened today...Just so i'd be able look back fondly at it in the future...and well, also to make you guys jealous. hahahaha...yesyes, i will get my retribution one day.

Anyway, here goes...
*Very long blog entry. But then, I had a long day.

9am: Log into MSN. Realize that i am actually one of the "early" ones. Most of my colleagues appear to still be sleeping or something. Turn on, no, make that blast, my favourite music. Current favourite is one of Bleach's theme songs, "Thank you!", Ah...shiok!

915am: discuss with mark the timeline for my Sony Alpha project. Can't continue cuz on of my colleagues is not online to contribute. Sit back, wait..play with dog.

930am: Got bored...Mark, the only person to talk to me, has decided valiantly to be the office maid (he is in the office btw, by virtue of the fact that 1. his post is higher than mine 2. he earns more than me 3. he is more responsible) and has gone off in favour of cleaning windows and keyboard. I decide to blog for posterity's sake...and to eat breakfast...contemplates making some complicated food.

1011am: abandoned the idea of complicated food. Makes sausages and bread.

1.15pm: have consumed 5 crab sticks and 1 dragon fruit so far, on top of a sausage and iced milo.
Decide that working from home is bad for the waistline. Cleaned zsa zsa's ears and combed her fur. Msn incessently while taking a call from Adelle from OSIM.

2pm: demand that Justin entertain me by emailing me rubbish at work. Checks the clock every 10mins to see if an hour has passed. Sent a couple of emails to Anbu from Thinsoft to say stuff has been resolved. Sit on getting the OSIM form development quote written. Finds out that Jian Ping is (okay, was) as malaysian. Wonders how long more this madness is going to last.

2.25pm: Found out that Mark, our dear office maid, didnt clean the office afterall. Tsk, tsk...lazy lazy.

" Mark says:
And fyi, I couldn't find the disinfectant so I didn't do any cleaning."

5pm: Woke up from my nap. Yes, i took a nap. What's wrong? I skipped my lunch so I'm entitled to 1 hr of rest time what. Come to think of it, every office should have a nap room. The only problem was that i was so worried of oversleeping, i had a nightmare of a client scolding me rather sarcastically. Sent website revamp previews to HuiLin from CCT..

5.20pm: Bathed at top speed and changed into exercise gear.

5.45pm: Received last minute requests from Thinsoft to make changes to their site. Damn sian...everyone (unanimously) agreed that the work could be put off till Monday..and that's exactly what I told the client. Scheduled a meeting with HuiLin from CCT for Monday 2pm. Send out my EOD report..and disappear for the day, much to Mark's chargin and disgust.

6.05pm: Ran like crazy for the 903 bus, just managing to hop on the bus in time. Feel self-conscious in gym gear...worry people think that i am a health nut...

6.50pm: Reached california fitness..late for Bodycombat class...but decide to crash it anyway.

8.30pm: Met up with Nigel...headed down to Union to meet Mich.

9.30pm: Grabbed a sandwich from Subway for dinner and headed back up to Union.

10.45pm: David arrives and we leave Union.

1115pm: Reached Raffles City. Bumble through Swisshotel to find the right elevator up to New Asia Bar..Only to discover upon reach NAB, that it is infested with not just angmos..but indians as well. Damn. And the stupid DJ just kept playing indianish music. *Bleah*

2am: Decide to leave NAB after laughing hard at wannabes, Ah Guas trying to hook unsuspecting ang mos and weird indian dancing.

2.15am: Arrive at the famous Scissors Curry rice place. Decide that the food is over-rated...but eat 1/3 plate anyway.

3am: Kenna jam at the Stevens Road exit to PIE. Wah lao...Road block! Convinced that the SG police are very stupid and extremely inconsiderate.

3.40am: Reached home.

4am: Find zsazsa's poo and pee on the floor. Spanked her and cleaned up the mess.

4.27am: Update blog...and prepare for bed.

As you can see...it's been a looooong day.

the flu isn't such a bad thing after all

Guess what?!

In lieu of the flu epidemic (hahaha, yes, it's considered an epidemic. My boss likened it to SARs) in my office, we are all going to work from home tomorrow!

Can't quite decide if it's a good thing or not...i personally think it will be a great test of my self control...to plonk myself in front of the computer from 9 to 6. I wonder how it will go.

My boss is so worried that he even told us to go off immediately once we have cleared our work. Which, for me, actually means NOW.

Thing is...I have nowhere to go, and nobody to hang with. Hmm..Maybe i should hit the sauna at california...

The plus side of this whole fiasco is that i can wake up later than usual...and play with zz all day.
But damnit, I have finished my supply of Bleach anime...and to think that i stayed up for nights to watch them when i will have the perfect opportunity to watch them tomorrow, in between waiting for emails and stuff.

If only Singapore was completely wireless...then woo hoo....then i can work while i shop!
But unfortunately, it's not. And i need to locate my wireless card first!

BTW, this is what my colleague Ethan thinks of the whole shebang .

audrey oww...shoulder ache.. says:
nvm lah
audrey oww...shoulder ache.. says:
tomo wk fr home
ethan says:
... ya i know "quarantine"
ethan says:
cool rite.
ethan says:
first time...
ethan says:
company like that
Cool??? Hmm...I think i'll be bored out of my skull actually.

the flu again!

Damnit!

I caught the flu again! I just can't believe it! I mean, like, again?!!?!!!
Man, I am so pissed!

The whole company has come down with the flu..save a few with super immune systems. Gosh..everyone was just sniffling all day through work. Even leaving the main door open for fresh air didn't help.

And our dinner was cancelled cuz everyone was feeling so shitty.
Great. And now, dunno reschedule to when!

Ohhhh, now my schedule is messed up.....damnit damnit damnit!

Kuchiki Byakuya

We shouldn't cry,
To the soul, that means the failure of the body.
That proves,
The statement of us having hearts
And that's excrescent.

So cool...but yet so totally intolerable if he was a real man.
I guess it's a good thing he's just an anime character then. :P

curls, curls and more curls!

Okay, I’ve gone and done it.

I have PERMED MY HAIR…finally. After 8 years of rebonding, I have finally decided to jump on the curly bandwagon.

Can’t quite figure out how to make the curls work properly though..I know im supposed to twist them round my finger with some styling product to make the curls more pronounced and bouncy…only problem is, I can’t quite tell which direction to twirl the tendril of hair.

*sigh*

Curly hair really is troublesome. And it makes me look OLD.

new mouse

Sorry, couldn't resist...went to Funan for lunch today with my colleagues...and guess what i came back with??

A mouse with paw-print patterns on it!

See? Nice???

I just had to have it..hahha...looks as if zsa zsa walked all over my mouse...only that her feet can't so impossibly small. Super cute right??

Anyway, the whole design team went shopping today!
My colleague Priscilla got herself the same mouse, but in pink!
See? Actually, I think all the designers got themselves new mice...but think though theirs are more expensive than mine...they just look ordinary and so didn't take a pic of them.

Anyway, Margaret got herself a very cool black white board. Er, I mean, a blackboard that works the same as a whiteboard...just that it's black instead of white. *confused* She got to work immediately upon reaching office to put it up.

And everything was on the company account because of this guy...Mark! hahaha.

Being responsible

I hate it when people don’t take responsibility for themselves.

I hate it when people always blame on it on something or someone else…As if they had no part to play in the resultant consequence on their own lives.
Afterall, if you don't even want to take responsibility for yourself, what makes you think that anyone else will be responsible for you?

The problem with many people is that they fail to see that a lot of things happen because they let it happen.

They could have changed the outcome, or have prevented something from happening…but because of the tendency to assume that someone else will take care of it as he/she too is affected by it, they just let things just run on.

And when things don’t go the way they want it to go, they will then conveniently blame the other person for not playing their part.

However, should it not be the case whereby if you really want something badly, you will go all out to ensure that you get it? Would you just sit around and wait for something to happen so that what you want will just conveniently fall onto your lap? I doubt it. You’d want to cover all bases.

Hence, I really hate it when I hear sorry excuses such as “I was waiting to see what would happen, before I make my move”, or “I was looking for a sign…”.

Hellooooo. Nobody will wait for you as you dawdle. If you wish to dawdle and you miss your opportunity, then it’s your own fault for wasting time. If people wait, or if they choose to help you, it is a bonus, not an entitlement.

You don’t need permission to seek out what you really want. If you need permission to strive for what you want, then you are a loser, through and through.

My Salsa Beginner One class

Finally. Mich has passed me the pics we took at our Beginner One graduation class.
As you can see, my class is pretty small...which is good.

The two people in white (and indicated by the yellow arrows) are my instructors - Serene and Jonathan. Very young, right?

And now, to introduce the rest of my class...

1: An old (and very sweet) indian couple. Can't for the life of me recall their names though.

2: Angeline. Don't be deceived by her appearance, she's really quite daring. She sang with the live band at Union Square on stage!~

3: Dawn. My trusty Salsa + online shopping + talk-to-me-when-bored msn kaki + uni classmate and a whole host of other akas. You can visit her blog here.

4. Jack. One of our "default" partners at Union..when nobody else asks us to dance. Next to him is Taddeus, who unfortunately, needs to repeat his B1 lessons.

5. Nor. Our crazy Malay classmate who always asks the bartender at Union for more nuts. hahaha.

6. Er, can't remember her name...but she's REALLY young..like 19 or so and is a medical student.

7. Mich. Of course.
