RE: Nissan Sunnys? Not here!

Recently, Cycle and Carriage released the Lancer Evolution 9 , a 2 litre 4WD firing breathing car capped at 280bhp/180 ts. (5 secs to 100km/h) Sum to pay: $155, 998.

Motor Image has since kept up with the challenge from Mitsubishi, with a soon to be released Subaru WRX STI, 2.5 litre AWD monster capable of generating 300bhp/200ts (4 seconds to 100km/h). Sum to pay: Expected to be around $150,000

Now a brief summary for some of the cars that I have driven. I’ll leave out most engine specs and mods for greenies with cars, concentrating on the exteriors.

1) Mazda MX-5 (MK2) 1994

Now this little beauty of mine couldn’t stop heads turning. With fiery red paint top with spicy red leather seats wrapped altogether by a nice TX bodykit, the white 16s” rims made it picture perfect. The ultimate machine for a single yuppie, lol! To bad, it lost out in terms of ts, generating only a 120bhp/85ts despite undergoing heavy alterations to the engine.

Reason to selling: A lady saw my car on the streets left me note expressing interest and soon I made a 5k profit. My real desire was to pave way for a much bigger monster actually.

2) Mazda RX-7 Efini (Gen 2) 1996

What could I say? This is a huge monster!!! This is the only car I dread driving every morning. The rotary inspired engine pumps out devilish figures. 500bhp/ 350ts (3.8 second dyno tested to 100km/h).White paint spilled over with a Cwest Bodykit and GT Wing wrapped in 18” inch titanium gun-metal LS rims. Through pipe courtesy from MAN Exhaust made ensured huge sparks and fires whenever shift ins, accompanying the enchanting melodies from the HKS BOV and wastegate. This monster actually beats Ferraris, porsches. I will always remember that disbelieved look of that chap in a F360.

Reason to selling: Monster appetite. A 2.6 litre engine takes up not only ½ tank just traveling from Woodlands to Orchard, I couldn’t get my jet fuel (yep, the fuel used by areoplanes as this car has a second “secret” inlet located in the boot for an extra ethanol boost at 1.5 bar least). A weekend out would have cost me (Octane 98 xo halftank - $80 plus $50 for a litre of jet). Besides that, I was getting too much attention from TP, ending up paying almost 5k for fines to illegal mods. Decided for trade in after some deep thoughts. I cried in fact for almost a week, a real car for true car enthusiasts. See more of that car in the cartoon initial D, yellow car driven by one of the brothers.

3) Nissan Silvia S14 1998

Life after the RX-7. The S14’s SR20DET engine is one of the most versatile engines around since the 90s. Able to take a huge thrashing, heavy modifications and heat, it is not surprising to see Malaysian proton cars opting to swap in for this heart, for it’s reliability and the reasonable pricing. S14 baby was decked in Gun-Metal paint top with a Gunza body kit and Cwest GT Wing, wrapped in 19” inches gunmetal alloy rims from Tamaka racing. As usual, the connotations included a MAN fire Exhaust custom made through piping top with a blitz BOV. Nothing to shout about for the speed, 250bhp/160ts (7.6 secs to 100km/h). A heavy car which took a while to warm up, highway specialists but a cornering defeater despite the altered D. Surprisingly, the fc was 10/L. very good considering a turbo modded machine.

Reason to selling: By now, a 24 points license became a 3 points elevation. I have to stop this racing fantasy as I was suck out dry (i.e., financing draining and emotionally suffocating (i.e., being part of the underground “orchard gudang” group and the type of interaction, go watch fast and furious and you will know why).

There loads for cars I have driven including:

1) Nissan 350z MK1
2) Rover 600 knight Ltd
3) Volkswagon Caddy (yes, I chiong van too, lol)
4) Subaru TS
5) Mercedes C200 Kompressor.

Concurrently recuperating, driving the lancer glx sports. It wouldn’t be long when my decision comes in for another spin-off and my points come back bit by bit.

Current cars in consideration

1) Subaru WRX STI (Good car, loved by Muffin too)
2) Toyota MRS Spyder (2 seater top down baby)
3) Honda Accord GT / Civic new model 2006 (Sporty, packing muscles)

More to come, I love cars!

The Masterpiece
